Howdy!

Welcome to the Pinenut Farm blog!

“Y’all grow pinenuts?!” Well, not really. I mean, we have pine trees here, and they produce pine cones, which have seeds in them called pinenuts. The trees do all of the growing themselves. I don’t think we’ll be doing any of that pinenut harvesting though.
One – We really don’t have the right kind of pine trees.
Two – Well, talk about tedious! There’s a reason you pay through the nose for pinenuts.

So, what’re we doin’ here? We grow some stuff. We raise chickens. We preserve the harvest by way of canning, dehydrating, fermenting, and even some freeze-drying, thanks to our great friends up the road. We have this 5-acre place in the mountains and we do some of that homesteading stuff. I guess we figured we’d use this here internet story-tellin’ thing to talk about some of that. Maybe four or five people will actually read this and get a kick out of it.

Thanks for stopping by!
